A Great Era Ends: Steve Jobs Steps Down As CEO
Steve Jobs announced on August 24th, 2011 that he will be stepping down from CEO of Apple. Steve Jobs had stepped down and is now Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee. Steve Jobs had officially said that he would make sure that Tim Cook would take his place as Apple CEO.
Steve Jobs already had a rare form of pancreatic cancer and had to leave in January to watch and take care of his health and his body. He eventually came back in the year and after this long he finally had written the words to confirm his heartbreaking retirement.
With Jobs under Apple, the company had made so much progress, revenue, respect, and so much leaps in our technology. Apple had made what we wanted to do all our lives. Steve Jobs had his last line of products this year including the new iPod with a camera, a iPod touch with a camera and finally, the iPhone 4 with the newest features and the next square on the technology timeline. From DaVinci to Steve Jobs. Even though Jobs still takes role in Apple, people still feels uncomfortable from Jobs resigning from Apple.
Jobs had made many milestones in his career as CEO, including over topping Microsoft and all the other companies in the world and taking place as the world’s most innovative and greatest company in technology advancement. With Apple’s greatest man stepping down from the stands, everyone can just sit and ponder what Tim Cook can ever do to keep the honor of the mastermind behind the world’s greatest products.
A great era ends.
Steve Job’s resignition letter from http://www.wired.com
“To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.”
